Location
The Kingborough Sports Centre is the home of the Southern
Tasmanian Table Tennis Association (STTTA), which organises all table tennis
activities at the Centre. The STTTA President and Committee welcome you to the
Association and hope that you enjoy playing at the Centre.
Rosters
Our seniors and
veterans rosters cater for players of
varying standards, from beginners to elite players. Rosters commence in
February, May and August. Each roster runs for 10 weeks, followed by two weeks
of finals. The senior rosters, which include adults of all ages and some
secondary school students, are held on Tuesdays evenings (commencing at 7 pm)
and veterans rosters are on Wednesday evenings (commencing at 7.30 pm). Men and
women over 35 qualify as veterans. If you wish to play in a roster, Committee
members will place you in a division that is appropriate for you.
The contact persons are:
Seniors roster: Elizabeth
and Bob Delbourgo, phone 6225 3896 (H),
Veterans roster: Kelvin
Michael, phone 6229 1660 (H)
A Schools
roster, for children from Grades 3-10, is held on Monday evenings during each
school term, from 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm. The contact person is Chris Hooper, phone
6227 8107 (H).
Social
play
Practice passes:
Members can purchase practice passes that give access to the Table Tennis
Stadium when the Centre is open and organized events are not running. There are
always people practising on Friday mornings (mainly veterans) and on Sunday
afternoons and new players are invited to join these groups.
Casual bookings
can also be made through the Sports Centre (6211 8262).
Tournaments
and Championships
STTTA members take part in various tournaments and
championships that are held during the year. The STTTA is affiliated with the
Tasmanian Table Tennis Association.
Special
events
Special events are held over the summer holiday period
(December – February). These are very popular. The contact persons are
Elizabeth and Bob Delbourgo, phone 6225 3896 (H).
Dress
Players must change into clean rubber-soled shoes at the
Centre, and not
wear their street shoes. Players must provide their own bats that, except for social
play, must have approved red rubber on one side and black rubber on the other
side. Orange shirts (or shirts close to orange) cannot be worn in rosters and
competitions, as orange balls are used. The only other requirement is that
players dress tidily.
