Veterans Championships - Medals
The Australian Veterans Championships were played in Adelaide from 15 - 22 October with some good performances by STTTA representatives on the Tasmanian team.
As a finalist, Dave Sherman won the Silver Medal in the National Over 80 Men’s Singles, while Geoff Benn won the Bronze Medal in the National Over 75 Men’s Singles. Geoff was No. 5 in the National Order of Merit for his performances in the Over 75 event. Peter Chung was No. 10 in the Order of Merit for the same category.
Our ladies in the Over 50 Women’s team achieved Australian National Order of Merit listings. Irina Sakova (No. 8), Sophie Kim (No. 9) and Judy Bowerman (No. 10) in Australia for their age group - an outstanding result – just going down 6-5 to the top-ranked Victorian ladies in the rounds and just missing a team’s medal!
